PNG resources week kicks off in July

From 1–4 July, Papua New Guinea will be awash with professionals from all facets of the global mining industry, ready to dive headfirst into two premier events.

The first cab off the rank is PNG Core’s CANCONEX Agenda, an event focusing on maximising the energy and resources industries impact on the nation.

Held at the University of Papua New Guinea from July 1–3, this three day event will feature 80 speakers and a packed three-day program.

Attendees will hear keynotes about disaster response, health, education, mine closure planning, investment programs and more.

But CANCONEX isn’t the only event making headlines in the first week of July.

The PNG Industrial and Mining Resources Exhibition and Conference (PNG Expo) will be opening its doors from July 3–4, ready to wow attendees with the newest innovations in equipment and technology.

Over 100 displays of equipment and stands can be found across the exhibition floor and, for those wanting to hear the latest advancements in the sector, a packed conference schedule will showcase key decision-makers from both local and international markets.

Held at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby, the PNG Expo is the premier event for industry professionals to network and discuss the latest development in the sector.

Gold sponsor Hastings Deering is excited to be in attendance.

“Hastings Deering PNG is very excited to be supporting the PNG Expo,” Hastings Deering country general manager PNG and Solomon Islands Andrew Dare said. “We have been delivering CAT products, services and rebuilds to PNG since 1949.

“From providing the latest CAT machines to training local staff, Hastings Deering PNG is at the forefront of supporting the development of the industry and its people in PNG.

“We are not only supporting the resource industry but also contributing to the local communities we operate in.”

Silver sponsor Islands Petroleum is similarly looking forward to networking and getting to know those in attendance.

“Supporting the PNG Expo offers Islands Petroleum an opportunity to exhibit our brand, quality products, and dependable services while also fostering connections with key industry players,” Islands Petroleum marketing manager Kavitha Bluett said.

“Most importantly, sponsoring such an event underscores our dedication to both our community and the advancement of PNG’s resources sector.”

As the authorised distributor of Mobil lubricants in PNG, Islands Petroleum has been fuelling the sector for the past four decades. In other words, the company is heavily invested in the success of the Pacific nation.

“Islands Petroleum’s involvement in the PNG resources sector provides a dependable and secure supply chain, maintaining uninterrupted service to our customers,” Bluett said.

“We are a solutions-focused business which, together with our robust supply chain, helps our customers grow and develop their resources business.”

With so many key events going on in July, PNG truly is the place to be.
