Mr David Lawrence is the Chairman of PNGX Group, owner of PNGX Markets, the national stock exchange of Papua New Guinea, and a director of the South Pacific Stock Exchange in Fiji. He has over 30 years of experience in the development, operation, supervision and governance of markets. Mr Lawrence is a director of Pacific Capital Markets Development, an Australian company committed to the development of capital markets in the Pacific region and the majority shareholder in PNGX Group and a shareholder in South Pacific Stock Exchange. Mr Lawrence is currently an independent non-executive director of Speech Pathology Australia, the national peak body for the speech pathology profession. He is also a director of Limelight Arts Group, an Australian travel and media company. Mr Lawrence has consulted on financial markets in the region, including China, Papua New Guinea and Australia. He previously held senior roles in market supervision and business development at ASX for more than 20 years. He was Chief Operating Officer of the Sydney Stock Exchange responsible for operationalising the relaunch of that market and, following go-live, the oversight of market supervision. Mr Lawrence was President of the Australian Compliance Institute, the Australian peak body for compliance professionals, for 8 years. Mr Lawrence is based in Sydney.
