Phil McCormack is a senior mining and infrastructure executive with more than 15 years’ experience delivering complex projects across Australia and Papua New Guinea. He is currently Project Director at PanAust, where he leads the advancement of large-scale mining developments, including the Frieda River Project in PNG. Since joining PanAust in 2010, Phil has held a range of senior leadership roles spanning project delivery, infrastructure development, and technical studies, including General Manager, Projects and Infrastructure and General Manager, Studies. His career began in electrical and site supervision roles, giving him strong operational grounding alongside strategic project leadership expertise. Phil is recognised for his hands-on leadership style and experience managing multidisciplinary teams through feasibility, construction, and operational readiness. He has extensive experience working with governments, communities, and stakeholders in remote and complex operating environments, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and long-term value creation.
